Self injury whatever the form that's not related to suicidal behaviour. This may be cutting, burning, hitting, excessive rubbing, skin picking, trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder) etc.

There rightly or wrongly, though I feel wrongly, is one hell of a Stigma around Self harm...

I for one spoke with my Therapist on Monday about it.. and what literally threw me off my chair was the way in which she didn't even bat an eyelid, and actually validated it as a coping mechanism... Albeit an unhealthy one.

She then sent out a load of resources at my request for tips, tricks etc for dealing with it...

To say the least I wasn't expecting a positive reaction, and I couldnt actually bring myself to say it directly as I am ashamed of what I do to myself.. but, the help is out there..!
