There's an old movie titled Alien Nation and a spin off show by the same name. The series is about a space alien family living openly in Los Angeles.
The series helped me feel like I belong too when I was watching it as a little girl.
I've been rewatching the series recently and it seems very topical. There's a human group called the Purists trying to exclude and eliminate the aliens.
Star Trek Voyager also made me feel like even though I'm different there's a place for me too. Same with Star Gate SG1.
